Artist Statement:

Daniel Carello is an abstract painter based in Wassaic, NY. He has received a BFA, in fine art, from the School of Visual Art (1990) and a MFA, in art education, from the The College of New Rochelle (2015). His work shows a wide range of influences, including graffiti lettering and graphic design. He often uses arrows in his work to explore implied motion. Most recently, Carello has painted a large scale commissioned mural, in White Plains (NY), for Arts Westchester. Photos and articles about Carello and his mural have been published in four Hudson Valley regional arts & culture magazines.

Description of artwork:

In the current painting series, I have utilized arrows to imply movement and direction. Also, I have juxtaposed many contrasting brightly colored shapes in each composition, with the intention of creating a visually dynamic relationship, between the abstract components of the painting.
